Mobile Dental Services Van
Don't Miss This Fantastic Challenge Match Opportunity!
A generous donor has offered a two-for-one match up to $45,000 for any donations received after March 1, 2020! We need to raise $22,500 to receive the full $45,000 match and $3,500 has already been raised. We need $19,000 NOW to get the van rolling!
The Betsie Valley Community Center and Northwest Michigan Health Services Inc (NMHSI) are developing services to respond to the immediate needs created by COVID-19. We are poised to provide necessary outreach services as soon as possible. NMHSI has just received a grant to equip the van with Telehealth service so even more services can be brought to our community. While schools and businesses have closed, we propose to meet the much overdue needs in our communities:
*Behavioral Health Services via Telehealth
*Remote visits with a Family Nurse Practitioner
*Migrant Farm Worker Camp Services
*Kindergarten Round-Up Events
ALL services will be provided in our communities. First priority when schools open in the fall is Dental Services, but the sooner we can get the van purchased, equipped and on the road - we can do all of the above!
CHILDREN MISS MORE DAYS OF SCHOOL BECAUSE OF DENTAL PROBLEMS THAN FOR ANY OTHER REASON
We need your support to get the van purchased, outfitted and on the road!
By clicking DONATE NOW, you will be directed to donate online through charity.gofundme.com, a secure and encrypted website.
Donations added online may not reflect in immediate increase in numbers.
Children need to be able to READ by the 3rd grade because they read to LEARN starting in the 4th grade.
Children cannot learn if they are not in school and they cannot concentrate if they are suffering from dental pain and discomfort.
Currently, mobile dental screenings are done in the schools - often in awkward places, like sitting on the floor, in the gym, on the stage or in storage areas.
We need the proper equipment and transportation to meet our goal of bringing dental care to the children of our communities.
How Does The BVCC Help?
Our goal is to purchase and outfit the van for full preventative dental services – where all equipment is stored internally in a compact and sanitary setting.
In addition to services in the schools, our goals are to offer outreach and oral health education at service organizations, libraries, businesses, and at community events throughout northern Manistee and southern Benzie Counties.
The Betsie Valley Community Center and the mobile dental van will help in more ways than one.
Dental Services will include:
Dental Cleanings & Screenings
Silver Diamine Fluoride
