Mobile Dental Services Van

The BVCC has some wonderful news to share!

The Mobile Dental Services Van Project bas been funded. Thank you to the many community members who contributed to our fundraising, including the support of a generous commitment from Manistee Men Who Care and an Iron Fish Distillery fundraiser! In addition, we are grateful for a grant from Cherryland Cares, for gifts from the Webber Foundation, Frank and Emily Smiddy of Thompsonville and an extremely generous anonymous donor match challenge made possible through the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation. We are also grateful for the discounted price that Watson Country provided on the 2019 Dodge Pro Master van. The van is being converted into a mobile dental van by Nature and Me RV (a Watson Country affiliate). Equipment, telemedicine technology and labor are being donated by Northern Michigan Health Services Inc. (NMHSI) as well as Midway Dental in Grand Rapids. The van will be ready early August for dental and some limited medical services related to Covid 19. All services will be revised to accommodate the necessary new safety practices. We appreciate the continued support from the community as we build the additional services possible via the mobile van. Donations to support the van's mission and operating expenses are always welcome.

Our Mobile Dental Van is Fully Funded!

The Problem

Children need to be able to READ by the 3rd grade because they read to LEARN starting in the 4th grade.

Children cannot learn if they are not in school and they cannot concentrate if they are suffering from dental pain and discomfort.

Currently, mobile dental screenings are done in the schools - often in awkward places, like sitting on the floor, in the gym, on the stage or in storage areas.

We need the proper equipment and transportation to meet our goal of bringing dental care to the children of our communities.

How Does The BVCC Help?

Our goal is to purchase and outfit the van for full preventative dental services – where all equipment is stored internally in a compact and sanitary setting.

In addition to services in the schools, our goals are to offer outreach and oral health education at service organizations, libraries, businesses, and at community events throughout northern Manistee and southern Benzie Counties.

The Betsie Valley Community Center and the mobile dental van will help in more ways than one
